CyberAlpha Research is an independent cybersecurity and AI research firm for investors, led by Vijay Upadhyaya.
Vijay spent 21 years in cybersecurity, from hands-on penetration testing and secure architecture to product management and go-to-market leadership. He helped build six category-defining security products: next-generation firewall, endpoint application whitelisting, IT-GRC, cloud SIEM, mobile fraud detection and cloud security (CNAPP).
At Palo Alto Networks he was Senior Director of Product Management for Prisma Cloud, responsible for its cloud security portfolio as it grew from $5 million to $500 million in ARR. His remit included M&A and market intelligence, and he led the program behind 24 security certifications, including FedRAMP High and Moderate.
At Sumo Logic he led competitive strategy and owned pricing and packaging for the cloud SIEM business. Earlier roles include competitive strategy and product management across the security portfolio at Juniper Networks, security analytics at Guavus, security management at McAfee, the first IT-GRC platform at Agiliance, and next-generation firewall work at iPolicy Networks.
He holds CISSP, CISA and CRISC certifications, completed Black Hat offensive security training and the Stanford Executive Program (LEAD), has spoken at RSA Conference, and has served as a SINET16 judge.
